Abdullah: The Constitutional Council is overstepping Parliament's authority
Lebanese MP Bilal Abdullah said in a post on X that the Constitutional Council's powers are limited to affirming the constitutionality of laws, accusing the Council of amending the law on reducing penalties and changing many of its provisions "on political grounds and pre-existing stances," which he said constitutes an overstep of Parliament's constitutional prerogative to legislate. He noted that the Council has the right to reject or accept the appeal, but that what happened raises many questions.
