An Unexpected Alliance Forms… Saudi Arabia Requests Syrian Military Support
A report by journalist Shai Levi on the Israeli site "mako" addressed reports of a Saudi request for military assistance from Syria to confront the escalation of drone and missile attacks coming from Yemen, following a summit meeting described as dramatic in Riyadh. The options discussed included sending Syrian officers and experts and establishing an integrated advisory system to intercept threats, in addition to the possibility of deploying Syrian ground forces alongside Saudi-backed Yemeni forces. Syrian officials denied a large part of these reports, stressing that Damascus's priority is rebuilding the country, at a time when Syria, led by President Ahmed al-Sharaa, is seeking to complete its distancing from the Iranian axis and reintegrate into the Arab fold.
