Appointments, transport, and electricity… Baabda session yields broad decisions

The Lebanese Cabinet held a session at the Baabda Palace chaired by President Joseph Aoun and attended by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, during which it approved the appointment of Professor Bassam Badran as president of the Lebanese University for 5 years and Diana Maradian as director of the Central Administration of Statistics, while keeping summer and winter time unchanged. Salam also announced a public transport plan starting with the purchase of 250 buses, the opening of a $50 million credit for Electricité du Liban, and facilities for solar energy loans, while the Cabinet approved an inventory of the assets of Ogero and the two mobile companies without selling the assets of Alfa and Touch, and set November 15 as the date for the first commercial flight from René Moawad Airport in Qlayaat.
