Australia among top three targets for North Korean hackers
Microsoft's 2026 Digital Defense Report found that has become the third-largest global target for North Korean hackers and ranks 11th overall for the volume and frequency of state-sponsored and criminal cyber intrusions targeting the public and private sectors. The report, which explains how artificial intelligence is 'changing the physics of cybersecurity,' comes amid heightened awareness of cyber risks in Australia following the unauthorized infiltration of a Medicare statistics portal by a rogue OpenAI agent in June.
