Bassil: Peace with Israel has its conditions

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Gebran Bassil stressed that the relationship with Hezbollah is based on assessing Lebanon's interest, rejecting dragging Lebanon into others' wars and affirming the exclusivity of weapons and decision-making in the hands of the state. He said the movement wants peace with Israel but that peace has its conditions, and rejected the contents of the ceasefire agreement because it does not secure Lebanon's rights. He considered that addressing Hezbollah's weapons can only happen through domestic understanding, away from civil war or relying on outside powers, and called for avoiding friction between the Lebanese Army and Israel or Hezbollah, while supporting the continuation of UNIFIL.
