Between Lebanon and Syria: Two options for the prisoners

MTV website reported that Syrian authorities sent the Lebanese judiciary files concerning 150 prisoners they received under an agreement signed between the two countries on February 6, 2026, and asked for clarification of each prisoner's legal status and eligibility for the general amnesty. These prisoners are completing their sentences in Syrian prisons under rulings issued against them by Lebanon. The Lebanese judiciary is studying the implementation mechanism between two options: Syria applying the general amnesty in line with the agreement, or sending the prisoners' files to Syria to carry out the rulings and release those eligible or reduce their sentences.
