"Butcher of Baniyas" from Mansourieh to Syria: Arrest or Kidnapping?

The official Syrian news agency SANA announced that the General Intelligence Service arrested Ali Kayali, known as "Meraj Ural", accused of responsibility for massacres committed in the city of Baniyas in 2013, while he was trying to flee across the border. However, circulating information presents a different account, saying that Kayali was kidnapped from inside his home in the town of Mansourieh in the Metn al-Shamali district, where he was living with his family under the alias Ali Khalil Ibrahim, after unknown individuals stormed the house and tied up his wife and son before taking him to an unknown destination. The Lebanese Information Branch began investigations to uncover the circumstances of his disappearance and identify those involved, while questions arise about how he was transferred from Lebanon to Syria and whether the operation was a coordinated arrest between the two countries or a kidnapping carried out inside Lebanese territory.
