Costlier hospitalization... higher insurance... and the citizen pays
The issue of rising hospitalization and health insurance costs is back in Lebanon, as hospitals demand a 25% increase in the hospitalization bill for 2026, after a 6% increase in 2025. Insurance companies warn that any increase will be reflected in insurance policy premiums paid by citizens, amid rising operating costs, fuel, electricity, and medical supplies. The Insurance Regulatory Commission confirms that increases are varying and not uniform, with upward pressures in health insurance, while the annual report shows growth in written premiums during 2024 by 24.67%.
