Country has access to best AI safeguards: top cyber spy

The director-general of the Australian Signals Directorate, Abigail Bradshaw, said Australia has some of the best AI safeguards in the world and has been working with Five Eyes countries since June. Her comments came after the government ordered all departments to fast-track the replacement of old cyber systems, following a breach of a Medicare portal — the first known AI hack of an Australian government system. Acting Home Affairs Minister Richard Marles said government systems need to keep pace with technology, while expert Nigel Phair argued that securing all data is impossible.
