Detainee dies in Chouaifat police station days before scheduled release
Detainee Ali Zaher, 27, died after a health incident while held at the Chouaifat police station, before being transferred to a hospital in Akkar. The Committee of Families of Prisoners said he was covered by the amnesty law and was due to be released next Monday after his release procedures were delayed by more than 20 days; it held the Supreme Judicial Council responsible for the delay and demanded an immediate investigation.
