EU supports extending UNIFIL mandate in south Lebanon

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced from Beirut that EU member states support extending the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), as its mission nears its end at the end of the year amid escalation with Israel. Kallas said no security vacuum can be allowed in south Lebanon, and that extending the mandate would be widely welcomed, and this is the position of member states.
