Explosion shakes giant tanker in Hormuz... Iran reveals what happened

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on Saturday that a giant crude oil tanker suffered a powerful explosion in the Strait of Hormuz after hitting a naval mine in an area classified as "high risk," while trying to leave the strait via an unauthorized route. The IRGC public relations said the tanker had switched off its navigation and positioning systems before the explosion and caught a large fire that was clearly visible to residents of coastal areas, warning that the destructive fire is the fate of any violating tanker. The incident comes as Iran continues to close the Strait of Hormuz and is holding consultations with the Sultanate of Oman over managing navigation.
