French source: Washington demands Lebanon negotiate without a tangible counterpart

A French source following the Lebanese file told An-Nahar that the current US approach to Lebanon is linked to the outcome of the Lebanese-Israeli negotiations, and that Washington refuses to renew pending the results of this track. The source criticized Washington for not offering a tangible counterpart to the Lebanese side, foremost a full ceasefire and a halt to Israeli expansion in southern Lebanon, warning that this increases deterioration and weakens the Lebanese government's position.
