From Gaza to Lebanon… What Are the Israeli Investigations Hiding?

An investigation by the BBC found that the results of Israeli investigations into hundreds of killings and injuries in Gaza, Lebanon, the West Bank and Israel over the past three years remain largely unpublished. The investigation covered the period from 7 October 2023 to 19 August 2026 and identified 300 cases the Israeli army said it was investigating, but it published the results of only about 28 cases. Of 254 incidents, 158 occurred in Gaza, 48 in the West Bank, 32 in Lebanon, and 16 inside Israel or in custody. The Israeli rights group Yesh Din also found that 1,456 Gaza-related incidents were referred to the Fact-Finding and Assessment Mechanism between October 2023 and August 2024, yet only 12 reviews were completed.
