Haredim close roads… attempted ramming ignites protests (video)

Protests and clashes erupted in Jerusalem and Modi'in between Haredi Jews and Israeli police over the military conscription file. In Jerusalem, a driver attempted to run over Haredi protesters who had blocked an entrance in protest against the arrest of draft refusers. In Modi'in, hundreds of protesters clashed with police around a residential building to prevent military police from arresting a young man who had evaded conscription. Police said they were called to assist military police and evacuated the soldiers from the building without arresting the young man. The Israeli army said military police faced "significant resistance and obstruction" and condemned any attempt to interfere with its soldiers' activities.
