Herzog tasks Eisenkot with forming the Israeli government

Israeli President Isaac Herzog announced the tasking of Benny Eisenkot with forming the government, after he received the recommendation of 67 votes against 46 for Benjamin Netanyahu, considering that Eisenkot enjoys clear and unambiguous support. Herzog said Israel faces enormous challenges, foremost among them Iranian threats and the need to build a political horizon in the post-war phase, to advance the 20-point plan for Gaza drawn up by the Peace Council and President Trump, and the negotiations with Lebanon and other neighbours, calling on Eisenkot to form a government representing the entire people.
