IMF Pledges Support for Iraq and Intensifies Talks with Lebanon
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said the Fund intends to support Iraq strongly with financing and policy advice, and that it is holding intensive talks with Lebanese authorities on a financial support program in which significant progress has been made, with some joint work remaining. She said Iraq requested a lending program without revealing details, while Lebanon talks focused on banking sector restructuring, the fiscal framework and the 2027 budget.
