Iran Affirms Military Readiness to Counter a Potential US Attack

Iranian army spokesman Mohammad Akrami-Nia said the Iranian armed forces are ready for any new US attack, after US President Donald Trump said he rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the fighting. Akrami-Nia warned that the United States would suffer greater damage if it launched another attack on his country. This followed a statement by Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces Amir Hatami that the war has reached a critical and decisive stage, and that Tehran will not accept a situation in which it cannot trade while foreign powers use the region's strategic waterways. IRNA also quoted a source close to the Iranian delegation in New York as saying the delegation does not intend to hold negotiations with the United States, after Trump hinted at their possible swift resumption.
