Iran Affirms Readiness to Counter Potential US Attack

Iranian army spokesman Mohammad Akrami-Nia said the Iranian armed forces are ready for any new US attack, after US President Donald Trump said he rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the fighting. Akrami-Nia warned that the United States would suffer greater damage if it launched another attack on his country, while Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces Amir Hatami said the war has reached a critical and decisive stage, stressing that Tehran will not accept a situation in which it cannot trade while foreign powers use the region's strategic waterways. Iran's official IRNA news agency quoted a source close to the Iranian delegation in New York as saying the delegation does not intend to hold negotiations with the United States, after Trump hinted at a possible swift resumption of talks and said his country would win the war soon and that oil prices would return to pre-war levels.
