Iran executes prominent member of Jaish al-Adl group

Iran's judiciary-affiliated Mizan news agency said Iran executed on Monday Omar Darstaran, a senior member of the Sunni armed group Jaish al-Adl, accused of supplying weapons, transporting fighters, and monitoring military bases to target them. The group operates in Sistan and Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran, has claimed responsibility for attacks on Iranian security forces, and in December 2025 joined a wider coalition called the Popular Resistance Front. Iran accuses Israel and the United States of supporting militants, and rights organizations including Amnesty International say Iran is the world's second-most executing country.
