Iranian Aviation Under Sanctions... Baghdad Negotiates with Washington for Exemption
The Iraqi government is holding direct talks with Washington in an attempt to obtain an exemption for some Iraqi airports from US measures that prevent flights by Iranian airlines, after the restrictions affected the movement of patients, students, and pilgrims between Iraq and Iran. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that all Iranian airlines would cease operations as of September 23, prompting Iraq to suspend Iranian flights from and to its territory.
