Iraq announces date for resuming flights with Iran
Iraqi Airways is preparing to resume flights to Iran in October via Najaf International Airport after obtaining a special exemption from US sanctions on Tehran. Iraq's Transport Ministry said flights would initially depart from Najaf International Airport, while an Iraqi official source said Washington granted Iraqi aviation a conditional exemption allowing the transport of Iranian pilgrims to and from Najaf. A source said the US Treasury exemption would permit flights for one month with the possibility of a longer waiver, while no flight schedules have been announced yet.
