Israel deploys "HawkGuard" drone-interception system near the Lebanese border
The Israeli army has deployed a new drone-interception system at sites in northern and southern Israel, according to Maariv newspaper, coinciding with Israel Aerospace Industries' unveiling of the "HawkGuard" system, which uses interceptor drones that strike by direct collision without warheads or explosives. The report did not specify the deployment sites or the distance between them and the Lebanese border. The system combines radar, electro-optical sensors and an AI-based command-and-control system, and the company says the cost per interception is very low, amid a rising drone threat.
