Israel Fuels Speculation About a Possible Strike on Iran
Reports said about 10 Israeli F-35 fighter jets took off from Nevatim airbase on the evening of Oct. 19, flew through Syrian airspace before entering Iraqi airspace and carried out mock attack sorties, with such flights repeated over several days amid high Iranian military alert and speculation about possible new US-Israeli attacks on Iran. No official confirmation came from Israel, the United States, Syria or Iraq, but Iraqi authorities said they were investigating unidentified air activity over western and southern Iraq in October. Military Watch magazine said the activity is consistent with preparations for long-range operations against Iranian targets, using Syrian and Iraqi airspace to approach Iran from the west.
