Israeli forces on Sunday resumed work on the "Sufa 53" project in the southern Quneitra countryside inside Syrian territory, after several engineering vehicles entered through the Al-Asha and Al-Rafid gates and began digging, raising earthen berms, digging trenches and expanding bulldozing along the with the Golan. The project began on 10 November 2022 and has included military roads, berms, trenches, fortifications and observation posts, while local estimates say damage has affected about 12,000 dunams of farmland and pasture, along with changes to watercourses. Part of the route lies within the area covered by the 1974 Syria-Israel disengagement agreement, monitored by the UNDOF force.
