Israeli media: Army prepares for escalation with Iran or Hezbollah

Israeli public broadcaster said the army raised its level of alert for fear of a possible escalation with Iran or Hezbollah in Lebanon, less than two weeks before parliamentary elections scheduled for Oct. 27. It quoted an unnamed security official as saying the army is working to ensure it is not caught by surprise, while Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir warned that chances of escalation have risen. It also mentioned a security meeting for Netanyahu and possible U.S. plans against Iran.
