Israeli Soldier Accused of Photographing Military Equipment for Iran
Israeli authorities on Thursday accused a soldier of carrying out espionage tasks for Iran in exchange for cryptocurrency payments, including transferring sensitive military information and photographing military equipment and sites. A joint statement by the Shin Bet, police and army said the soldier was arrested last September after a joint investigation, and that the military prosecution filed an indictment including transferring information to the enemy with intent to harm state security and contacting a foreign agent. According to the statement, the soldier communicated with Iranian agents for about a year and provided information about his unit’s activities, army readiness and soldier call-ups, and photographed interceptor missiles, military vehicles and US refueling aircraft; a military court extended his detention until November 12.
