Joseph Aoun… Where Others Dare Not Go
A Lebanon Debate report argued that President Joseph Aoun pushed to restart the Zouk and Jiyyeh power plants, a file that the energy minister, Joe Saddi, should have led. The board of Electricité du Liban (EDL) gave preliminary approval to restart the two plants and began preparations to recommission units proven safe, in coordination with the manufacturer "MAN – Everllence", though this does not mean the plants have resumed operations immediately. The report criticized the Lebanese Forces for not exerting serious pressure on its minister to complete the file, instead standing behind his sit-in and resignation threat, saying the citizen pays the price.
