Joumah tensions escalate... municipal action to contain the situation
The Union of Municipalities of Joumah, the region's mayors' association and local figures held a meeting to discuss the repercussions of tensions and attacks between the towns of Akkar al-Atiqa and Fneideq, urging the President, the Speaker, the Prime Minister and the Army Command to intervene urgently to contain the dispute. The participants condemned attacks, road blockages, threats and incitement, formed a joint committee to liaise with security, judicial and administrative authorities, and called for restraint and recourse to the judiciary.
