Judicial referral to Health Minister in cancer drug file

The Public Prosecutor of Cassation, Judge Ahmad Rami al-Hajj, is heading to issue a judicial referral to Health Minister Rakan Nasser al-Din in the file of cancer drugs that entered Lebanon under exceptional licenses, amid information about the circulation of counterfeit drugs sourced from India and Iran. About three weeks earlier, al-Hajj verbally asked the minister for a table of drugs imported between 2020 and 2026, but the request received no response, prompting him to adopt the official judicial path. Judicial sources confirm that al-Hajj is proceeding in the file and will request the formation of a neutral medical unit to analyze drugs suspected of ineffectiveness, and will ask about the reasons for continuing to grant exceptional licenses after the COVID-19 pandemic ended.
