Lebanese president says negotiations are alternative to war with Israel
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said that negotiations are an alternative to war with Israel and that an agreement is the only way to end hostilities between the two countries. During a meeting with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, he said Israel has not yet implemented the provisions of the signed in June, stressing that any force replacing must operate under the United Nations' authority. Aoun also expressed Lebanon's aspiration to sign a strategic partnership with the European Union, and reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to economic reforms and passing a to enable an agreement with the International Monetary Fund.
