Lebanon: Illegal sea migration attempt thwarted and Syrians arrested
Lebanon's General Security Directorate announced that a group of Syrian nationals were arrested while preparing to leave Lebanon by sea to Cyprus illegally. It turned out that they had entered Lebanese territory clandestinely through the Wadi Khaled area with the help of smugglers, and were sheltered in a house in the town of Tal Abbas for $5,000 per person, part paid in Syria and the remainder upon arrival in Cyprus. Investigations continue under the supervision of the competent judiciary to identify and arrest those involved.
