Lebanon: National AI Strategy Enters Discussion

The Economic, Social and Environmental Council, at the invitation of its president Charles Arbid, held a working meeting to discuss the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy for 2026, with the participation of Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence Kamal Shehadeh and officials and representatives of official and international bodies. Shehadeh announced goals extending to 2032, most notably moving Lebanon from 126th globally in government service delivery to the list of the top 30 countries within 3 to 5 years, and raising the percentage of Lebanese using artificial intelligence from the current 27% to about half within two or three years, provided the strategy is amended and referred to the Council of Ministers for official adoption.
