Jaafari Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan delivered the Friday sermon at the Imam Hussein Mosque in Burj al-Barajneh, saying the world is changing and the current international order is eroding. He said the US midterm elections place Iran at the heart of international balances and highlight the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian missiles. He called on the Lebanese political authority to read Lebanon's interests outside dependency on Washington and outside any security deal with Tel Aviv, stressing that Lebanon's complex crisis can only be addressed through a comprehensive national partnership. He rejected federalism of sects, side deals, obstruction of institutions, protection of corruption, and aborting the forensic audit, and called for a national harmony table, expressing what he expects from President Joseph Aoun and stressing Lebanon's unity and comprehensive reform.
