Qlayaat Nears Takeoff... Ministry of Public Works Settles Equipment Dispute

The media office of the Minister of Public Works and Transport affirmed that Qlayaat Airport will begin operating according to the set schedule, explaining that the additional works and equipment needed to boost its readiness fall outside the investor's contract and will be carried out through a public tender handled by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation in accordance with the Public Procurement Law. The statement noted that these works emerged later as a result of additional requests from the relevant security agencies and the Lebanese Army command, and that the ministry is following two parallel tracks: completing the basic works needed to start operations, and executing the additional works, which can be completed in parallel with or after operations begin. It stressed that not completing them in the first phase does not obstruct the start of operations.
