Rajji: No sovereignty with dual control of weapons

Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Youssef Rajji participated in the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Iraq, where he called on Iran and its proxies to stop their attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan, reaffirming Lebanon's full solidarity with them and its adherence to UN Security Council Resolution 2817 and rejection of restrictions on transit passage in the international straits, especially Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab. On the weapons file, he said the government took a decisive decision in August 2025 to restrict weapons to legitimate security agencies and extend state authority over its entire territory, considering that there is no sovereignty with dual control of weapons. He accused Hezbollah of dragging Lebanon into two destructive wars with Israel in October 2023 and March 2026, condemned the Israeli war and attacks on Lebanese sovereignty, and demanded that Iran stop its interference in Lebanon's internal affairs and stop supplying Hezbollah with weapons and money. He also reaffirmed adherence to Resolution 1701, the 2024 cessation of hostilities, the 1949 armistice agreement and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, and referred to the tripartite framework with the United States and Israel that he said would lead to a complete Israeli withdrawal, the return of displaced persons, reconstruction, the recovery of prisoners, the disarmament of all armed groups and the restriction of weapons to legitimate Lebanese agencies.
