Report: Israel continues incursions in southern Syria amid rising tensions

Israeli forces continued their incursions in southern Syria and set up military checkpoints in more than one location, in an escalation in which Damascus accused Israel of undermining security and stability. Syrian state television reported that Israeli forces blew up abandoned military fortifications in the western Damascus countryside and raided homes in the Quneitra countryside. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani said at a joint press conference with OPCW Director-General Sabrina Dalavior that the Israeli government has continued to destabilize Syria since December 8, 2024, calling on the international community to act and return to the 1974 disengagement agreement. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented new incursions, while the Syrian Network for Human Rights counted 453 ground incursions, 69 deaths and 162 arbitrary arrests between December 2024 and October 2026.
