Report: US asked Israel to attack Iran

Hebrew media reported that the United States asked Israel to carry out an independent strike on Iran over the past two weeks, before backing down after Israeli warnings that it could postpone elections. Maariv said the US request aimed to reduce political cost for President Donald Trump before the midterm elections, while Channel 13 reported Israeli preparations for a possible Iranian response. The New York Times quoted US officials saying three aircraft carriers will arrive in the Middle East and that the Pentagon has prepared plans for a three-day military campaign against Iran. Iranian MP Ali Khadrian suggested a new US attack could occur between mid-November and mid-January 2027.
