Sanctions Without Warning: America 'Chokes' Iran via Foreign Financial Institutions

The U.S. Treasury Department warned foreign financial institutions that continue dealing with Iran or its financial sector of possible U.S. sanctions that could be imposed without prior notice, calling for an immediate end to such relationships. The warning comes as Washington intensifies economic pressure on Tehran through a blockade of Iranian ports and a ban on oil exports, in addition to recent sanctions targeting automotive, railway, manufacturing and metals companies, as part of the "economic pariah" operation announced by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
