"The Southerner Is Tired"... Aoun Settles on the Negotiation Option

Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun affirmed, during a meeting at the Baabda Palace with a delegation from the Association of Alumni of the Mont La Salle School, that the negotiation option stemmed from the conviction that war would lead nowhere, noting that the agreement reached is not ideal but has limited the expansion of Israeli attacks. He defined Lebanon's objectives as Israeli withdrawal, the return of displaced persons, the release of prisoners, and reconstruction, leading to an end to the state of hostility with Israel. Aoun also addressed the economic situation, noting that growth reached about 4% last year before the war set the country back, and that Lebanon joined the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) ports club through the ports of Beirut and Tripoli, and launched work at René Moawad Airport in Qlayaat.
