United States Intervenes in Hezbollah Explosives Crisis in Lebanon
A U.S. State Department official said Secretary Marco Rubio spoke with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun about the seizure of hundreds of kilograms of Hezbollah explosives and urged him to hold those responsible accountable and curb smuggling. Meanwhile, Hezbollah demanded the Lebanese Army release its arrested members and return the shipment, while MP Hassan Fadlallah said the explosives were intended for use against the Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon.
