"Why from Turkey via Syria?"... Bassil Reopens the Electricity File
During a meeting with residents of the Batroun region in Paris, the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, raised the electricity file and the cost of importing power from Turkey via Syria, asking which option is cheaper: importing electricity from plants in Turkey through Syria to Lebanon, or securing it from a Turkish plant aboard a ship off the Lebanese coast. Bassil also addressed stalled development projects in Batroun due to the economic crisis, called on Lebanese expatriates to contribute to developing their regions, and demanded lower travel ticket prices, an end to the aviation monopoly and the opening of the market to competition.
