The referral of the complaint against Ambassador Nada Hamadeh Moawad to the military court is unacceptable, and constitutes a dangerous precedent that undermines the independence of diplomatic work. Lebanese diplomacy must not be subject to political calculations. What is required is protecting institutions, not intimidating them.

In 2005, the explosives truck was not stopped, and the result was the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. We will not ask about the destination of explosives transported by Hezbollah elements; the more likely scenario is a wave of assassinations as between 2004 and 2008. Delaying the implementation of decisions and law enforcement is what constitutes a danger to civil peace. The state must immediately begin dismantling Hezbollah's military and security structure before we all pay the price of terrorism again.
