The Lebanese must say what they want and define their choices, so let us go to elections, the law exists, and in the last session the interior minister indicated that he has every readiness to hold elections as soon as possible.
Today we are in the greatest need of renewing power, and in the greatest need of holding elections, especially on the fundamental issues on which Lebanese disagree. Therefore, we submitted today a draft law to shorten the parliament's term, because rotation of power is important, and more importantly there are important national issues, including weapons and the state recovering its decision and ending this chaos.
We all know that the parliament extended its own term, and we had wished at the time that the extension would be for a short period, but the term was extended for a period we consider long. Today all indicators suggest that circumstances will not change in the foreseeable future, as if this parliament is required to remain extended for a period no one knows how long.
What is happening in the country requires the government to make a firm decision, otherwise it should shorten the term of the House of Representatives in order to hold new elections

The citizen can no longer bear more partial solutions and postponed promises.
What is required is not only that the government announces what it will pay, but how it will pay, when it will pay, and that it actually commits to payment deadlines.
What is required today from the government, specifically from the Ministry of Finance, is not partial solutions or postponed promises on the electricity issue, but a comprehensive and integrated government decision, including clear and specific financial commitments, coupled with implementation mechanisms and a binding timetable.
