Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey held an emergency high-level meeting in Riyadh within the political and strategic defense committee emanating from the 'Makkah Agreement for Joint Defense' to discuss Houthi attacks on Saudi territory and ways to deal with them. The alliance then announced an immediate transition to the practical implementation of joint defense commitments and the activation of collective deterrence, and Turkey is moving to expand its military presence in Saudi Arabia. Ankara stresses that the agreement is defensive only and does not include offensive operations outside its territory.
